Myra Abstreiter - Alberta

From a modest beginning on a Suzuki 55cc in 1985, Myra has enjoyed more than 20 years in motorcycling in the Edmonton, Alberta area. She’s been a road rider, ice racer and dirt biker, and much more.

‘Two months after I started riding on the Suzuki, I graduated to a 1976 Honda 360cc and before the end of the year was riding a 1981 Honda Silverwing 500cc. By the time I was ready to move on to my next bike, a 1999 Nomad, I had logged over 125,000 km. The Silverwing was a very top-heavy bike and it taught me lots of lessons and fine-tuned my riding skills. Now I look forward to many great miles and memories on my Triumph Speedmaster. I joined the Edmonton chapter of Women in the Wind and have been actively involved for over 15 years.’

Over the years, Myra has held various executive positions in the chapter, and is currently the Canadian administrator as well as publisher of the Edmonton chapter newsletter. She counts a trip to the 2006 AMA/FIM International Women & Motorcycle Conference held in Athens, Georgia among her most memorable motorcycle events. She works as a data coordinator and has a great daughter, son-in-law and two wonderful grandkids.
